#2020YearOfPurpose Series: Week 3: So... Who Am I Really?
Hey Girl! It’s Allyson...
This is probably my favorite week of this month because I get to reveal to you who you are.
Yes, I’ve been stalking you and checking out your social media. I know who your are...
No, not really. But I do know who you are, at least at the core of you, the foundation of your identity. This is the starting place for you if you are unsure of who you are.
By the end of this, I simply want you to have an idea about the foundational things of who you are and the value that comes with it.
Think about an iPhone. The whole world knows it value. Whether it’s made for $14 in a small shop or not, the attached brand that goes with an iPhone is what sets it apart from the other companies. You know that if someone is offering a brand new iPhone for only $100 that they’re lying or have a concussion. Once you understand the value something carries, you won’t argue with the cost. You won’t treat it a certain way because you realize it’s worth and value, which is NON-NEGOTIABLE.
The same applies to you. Once you can understand and accept you who are and the value you possess, you’ll treat yourself differently. You’ll walk different. Talk different. Keep away from things that hurt you more than help you. Keep away from PEOPLE who hurt and harm you. Certain places you’ll stop going. You’ll cut off access to what you carry because you don’t want anyone or anything to affect it... or infect it.
To be very transparent with you, I’ve tried to orchestrate this week’s message without a KEY component; God. I try my best to be as inclusive as I can, but this right here? Your identity? Who you were created to be? Your original design?
There’s no way I can teach that to you and give you the tools you need without God.
When you have an issue with your iPhone, you take it to Apple. You don’t take it to Microsoft. You don’t take it to the corner store guy, unless you want it to be fixed quick, for a low cost, with the possibility of it still messing up and so damaged that Apple won’t even touch it. You take it back to the creator because if there is anyone who can set your phone back up the right way, download everything that needs to be downloaded, and give it back in tip top condition.
When you’re trying to discover who you are, understand your inner workings and design, you have to go back to the creator, which is God.
I don’t know about you, but I need a manufacturer who knows me before shaping me (Jer 1:5) I need the one who knows about the light He gave me so that I understand how I’m supposed to use it.
God created us in His image and likeness, not just to be like him, but to have dominion and power like He does. When I look like my creator, I have access and power like my creator. When those on the outside see me coming, they’ll know the power I possess and carry.
You have the same power! It must first be acknowledged that you carry this power and that you are made in the image and likeness of the One who is all powerful, then you have to walk boldly in it, confident that when people see you, they see Him.
No matter the mistakes you’ve made, you can always get back to your origin in all state.
The beautiful thing about it?
God will always see the perfect created He intended. Nothing we do can separate us from who He’s created us to be.
We’re not that powerful.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basked, but on a lamp stand, and it gives lights to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)
You’re a light. And it brings light to others. You are meant to be on display so that they may receive light and also acknowledge the God in Heaven who gave it to you.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Not only that, we were skillfully pieced together. When someone takes their time to craft something, it’s something so amazing. It’s unique. It’s one of a kind, It’s rare.
Are these words you’d use to describe yourself? Probably not... at this point.
But they are meant for you. No matter what you feel, who has said something about you, or how much pushback you get, you are one of kind. A Rare jewel. Never to be seen on this earth again. So what will you do with your time?
Will you continue to waste it trying to be like someone else or create false personalities to deal with life because you’re afraid to face it?
Or will you understand your value and your worth and recognize that the things that’s been holding you back isn’t as powerful as you made it.
You are a Limited Edition. Never to be seen again. Have never been seen before.
So what you carry is valuable to the world. Who you are is valuable to the world.
So now is the time to step up and stop wasting time that you don’t have.
Use these foundational things to help you remember who you are and reach your goal of walking in your uniqueness... for such a time as this.
